The Côn Đảo Archipelago (Bà Rịa – Vũng Tàu) is currently home to the largest number of naturally nesting sea turtles in Vietnam. Here, the journey of sea turtle conservation continues with unwavering efforts from the Côn Đảo National Park. Despite achieving significant milestones, the conservation of sea turtles in Côn Đảo faces many challenges.
Recognizing the importance of sea turtle conservation and the desire to promote responsible tourism within the community, the annual Save Turtles Run was launched in 2022. This meaningful initiative is brought to life by AKYN Hospitality Group, starting with their first hotel, The Secret Côn Đảo.
After two successful years, the 3rd season of the Save Turtles Run in 2024 has been redesigned with many new and exciting features. Under the message ” Every Step We Take, Miles of Green We Make,” we invite everyone to contribute to the sea turtle conservation efforts in Côn Đảo. This year not only will the event be held at the romantic sunset hour, but the organizers have also introduced multiple running distances (3km, 5km, 10km) to cater to participants of all levels.

FRIENDLY DISTANCES FOR ALL LEVELS WITH STUNNING SCENERY
The first distance, a short 3km, promises to make the event more accessible to young runners, beginners, and tourists looking to experience and partake in a piece of responsible travel. Meanwhile, the traditional 5km distance remains to meet the needs of the many participants. Lastly, the 10km distance will offer a moderate yet exciting challenge for avid runners.

With these innovative updates, the Organizing Committee hopes that the third season of the Save Turtles Run will continue to receive enthusiastic support from the community. This event is not just a mere sporting
event, it is part of an ongoing effort to protect the long-standing “residents” of this beautiful island. Each step taken by participants is a steadfast commitment to the precious life of sea turtles. Every runner becomes an ambassador for conservation, helping to spread the message of environmental responsibility to a wider community. Through this, awareness of the importance of sea turtle conservation is raised, healthy sportsmanship is encouraged, and inspiration for responsible tourism is fostered.
