On the afternoon of August 17, 2024, Côn Đảo district, Bà Rịa – Vũng Tàu province was buzzing with over 200 runners participating in the 3rd season of Save Turtles Run 2024. With the meaningful message “Every Step We Take, Miles of Green We Make”, the event was both an exciting sports competition and an opportunity to raise awareness about sea turtle conservation in Côn Đảo.
The race is organized annually by AKYN Hospitality Group and The Secret Côn Đảo Hotel, and this 3rd season marks the 4th anniversary of the hotel. The event attracted enthusiastic participation from runners from various regions, promising a journey full of emotions and environmental responsibility.
CONQUERED THE RUNNING PATH IN PRISTINE NATURE
This year, Save Turtles Run 2024 offered a completely new experience with a romantic sunset time frame. Runners had the opportunity to conquer 3 diverse distances: 3km, 5km, and 10km, crossing beautiful coastal roads, glorious historical sites, and exploring the impressive natural beauty of Côn Đảo’s mountains and forests.
The combination of healthy sports and eco-tourism provided runners with a novel space for health training, helping them absorb clean green energy from the pearl island’s nature. Many participants expressed satisfaction with their race experience, especially the attractive running shirts and medals, along with the opportunity to admire the beautiful sunset on the majestic racecourse.
SPREADING GREEN FOOTPRINTS IN EVERY STEP
Additionally, to promote sustainable tourism development in Côn Đảo together with local authorities, AKYN Group and The Secret Côn Đảo Hotel have donated an additional 20 million VND to Côn Đảo District People’s Committee, supporting purposes such as promoting responsible tourism destinations to modern travelers.

Save Turtles Run 2024 succeeded in connecting sports passion with the responsibility of environmental protection. Each participant was not just a runner, but also an ambassador for sea turtle conservation and the marine environment in Côn Đảo. Through participating in the race, they contributed to raising community awareness about conserving the precious green sea turtles (Vích), balancing the ecosystem, and spreading the spirit of responsible tourism.
With the success of the third season, “Save Turtles Run” has affirmed its position as a unique sport – tourism – conservation event, promising to continue developing and spreading the message of environmental protection in the coming years, while creating sustainable impressions in the community and environment of Côn Đảo.
